All he cares is running his personal journal business using Rice company time and grant-money to boost his status, to expense for travel to Italy where he believed supreme race there and cited with Mussolini. Behaving like an Italian mafia boss, he is a bad looser. He does not have guts to accept that his international students are smarter than him, instead, he just want to steal the credit and use students as slaves - they don't have opportunity to quit. Graudate students are dirts to him. From outside, everything looks perfect; from inside, it is all rotten. A reformer against status quote, status quote often won but our society is doomed. (Think about how Nazi party is finally defeated by good people together united force). Only in America, someone can be doing outstanding job and still fired politically but that should not have happened to graduate students scholars . Rice University eventually has changed a lot based on my feedback to the foreign students office. For example, Mech Eng has 5X more faculty members to ensure not only a few controls the good boy network. Also that broadens the knowledge base of the faculty pool, not one can manipulate academic study. The university brought in a President that has close tie to China and Chinese culture. Till today, I still believe teacher's job is to promote students' excellence, measured by how great their students are (voted by distinguished alumni), not by how much money they bring to the university. Yes, we can make a difference for future generations by standing up, speaking up, and re-making America. The future of new generations in USA is dependent on our actions.
